  4. The album then moves up a gear with what was the start of side 2 on the vinyl LP - "Caroline" was the single released from the album and is one of Quo's most recognised tracks. Originally penned as a slower shuffle, it was given the full Quo treatment and is a classic up-tempo rock/boogie number/5().
  5. With HELLO, Status Quo delivers another great album of hard-driving blues-boogie that's equally good for dancing to or exercising to. Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt are great on guitars and vocals, singing rather than screaming, and while Rossi can't match Paul Rodgers, Derek St. Holmes, early Sammy Hagar, or Dave Peverett for soul, at least he's more pleasant to listen to than a guy like say /5().
  6. "Roll Over Lay Down," not immediately impressive, builds into a tizzy over the course of five minutes. It is one-upped by "Caroline," the definitive Status Quo rock song, a not particularly hard or fast four-on-the-floor stomp saved by a massive, deceptively simple guitar hook.
  7. The LP opens with the shuffle action of "Roll Over Lay Down", while adding "Caroline", and the no-frills "Reason for Living". However, the best is saved for the very end, as the eight-song Hello! culminates with the spirited "Forty-Five Hundred Times" riding out the tight B-side groove.
